Project Overview: Old Xian Food and Mart

The design of Old Xian Food and Mart cleverly blends modern industrial aesthetics with the essence of Chinese fast-food culture. By utilizing bold color contrasts and multi-functional zoning, the designers have created a comprehensive dining space that captures both the bustling energy of a traditional marketplace and a sleek, contemporary fashion sense. The overall design centers on the cultural heritage of "Old Xi'an" but boldly moves away from traditional architectural replicas, opting instead for a concise and vibrant visual language that grants the brand high recognizability and "Instagrammable" appeal. In terms of color and materials, the project employs a striking "China Red" as its primary hue. This red flows through the space—from wall accents and dining furniture to the three-dimensional ceiling typography—creating a warm, energetic atmosphere. This is balanced by low-saturation light gray walls and natural wood-toned flooring. The collision of warm and cool tones not only enhances the spatial hierarchy but also adds depth through varying textures. The ceiling features industrial-style track lighting and exposed ventilation ducts, paired with minimalist pendant globe bulbs to inject a strong urban, trendy vibe into the interior. The spatial layout demonstrates a highly efficient functional integration strategy. The designers utilized bright red wire-mesh partitions to subtly divide the open floor plan into dining, ordering, and retail sections. This semi-transparent approach maintains visual continuity and natural light flow while echoing the casual freedom of street-side stalls. The retail wall, featuring neatly organized pegboards and bright refrigerated displays, allows the dining and "Mart" functions to overlap seamlessly, precisely catering to the multi-faceted needs of today’s fast-paced young consumers. The decorative details further showcase a modern interpretation of "Xi'an flavor." The creative placement of brand lettering—inverted or staggered across the ceiling—breaks conventional design norms, enriching the overhead visual field and providing a playful focal point for diners. From the clean lines of the stainless steel service counters to the warm wooden platforms, Old Xian Food and Mart successfully transforms a traditional culinary concept into a hybrid commercial space that balances social interaction, shopping, and gastronomic enjoyment.
